The Manor House Farm dates from 1591 and some of the building material is thought to have come from an old monastery situated between Slipton and Sudborough at a site known as 'Money Holes'.
The village is centred along the High Street and The Green and there are no less than nine buildings of special architectural or historic interest contained within the parish.
The population in 1991 was 179 with 87 dwellings: the estimate for 1995 was a population of 181 and a dwelling stock of 88.
